fuckyeahtheblackfish: THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE BLACKFISH IN THE HBO TV SERIES "GAME OF THRONES"
(First posted on winter-is-coming.net. No spoilers.)
This HBO Blackfish thing is confusing the hell out of me. Note that I absolutely don’t believe that GRRM somehow owes me anything just because I invested emotionally in one of his minor characters; however he must be aware that the…
I may be biased because I too love the Blackfish, but this post is definitely worth reading for any ASOIAF fan. I’ve watched BlackfishBlues defend her favorite Tully on WiC.net, and I’m glad to see she’s taken her advocacy to tumblr.
I don’t dare to presume that I know better than GRRM, or D&D, but for the sake of discussion, I do think leaving out the Blackfish would not be wise. We need to see Riverrun as a credible stronghold and the Tully family as an able team, and that won’t come through in rash Edmure or feeble Hoster. We see the Tully resolve in Cat, but we’ll see it most through Brynden, who is a street-smart Ned Stark or a rogue Barristan Selmy. He represents the voice of the Riverlands amongst the chorus of the North, and is indispensable to the Young Wolf’s rule.
FANS FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THE BLACKFISH. He is endangered…do not let him become extinct.
(may have overdone the last bit there, but I think at least BB will appreciate it!)
