FINALLY I have time to process and post pictures of this Daenerys fanart I made to give to George at his NYC A Dance with Dragons signing (yes, the one two weeks back on the 14th :/).
This is inspired by Art Nouveau and done in the style of Alphonse Mucha, one of my favorite artists. Dany is drawn as a queen, with her dragon crown. Instead of doing a golden headpiece, I wanted to do something that resembles dragons’ wings wrapping around her head, and decided to do scales in a multitude of colors. I put Dany in front of a halo comprised of the sigils of the other Great Houses of Westeros because I believe she has a greater claim to the Iron Throne than any of them. There’s also a layer of fire against a black background to evoke the Targaryen colors. And the halo is ringed by her name and titles as she proclaims them in A Dance with Dragons. A trio of dragon motifs frame her.
…mother of dragons…child of three…
…mother of dragons…child of storm…
I made this on the eve of the signing to give to George. I’m not sure if my wanting to bring him something puts me on the very edge of the precipice that juts out over creepy fangirl land. But I guess I just wanted to tell him thanks for giving us this world. :)
